Currently in rough water you have 2 options:
1. Stand and take the shocks with your legs
2. Bear the pounding from the waves through the boat, up the pedestal and directly onto the seat you are sitting in

It has been designed to reduce the amount of physical jarring that can be felt when a boat goes through waves, therefore improving the level of comfort for all boaters and extending the amount of time spent on the water
